The trees are so lovely. Here you are just getting all ready for Christmas and for us, it's all over. Thank you so much for sharing these with us!

Our holidays will last another four days.

I took that with the cell phone. I went skating in Red Square and took a few photos. There is a good skating rink there.
I found a good video on youtube, a festive Red Square in December:

At least it's gotten cold enough there for skating! I remember you were saying earlier that it was still unseasonably warm there.

Oh, now it's so, too! It's too warm and no snow. The rink in Red Square has synthetic ice that's why we went there. That rink is available from November till March, in any weather. The rink near my house is not working now - no snow. The weather broke all my plans to go skating and skiing during the holidays.
Something tells me that we will get all the snow in March or April…

How very odd. No snow in Moscow for Christmas. Is that a first for you?

This happens sometimes, but very rarely. It's not normal for us.

So beautiful, I think Moscow had the prettiest fireworks in the Global Competition this year. It just looks so pretty with them behind St Basil's Cathedral.

Yes, there are beautiful fireworks there. Also there is a good ice rink there now. But too small.
I found this on youtube, Red Square in December:

Oh how lovely is that St Basil in the background in the first picture?

Yes, it is.

Lovely, thank you for posting them. I love the lights on the trees and the buildings, it shows the season off beautifully.

Thank you, but so far we don't have snow enough. Who could think in Russia there wouldn't be snow in January?

WE just got a foot of snow, and expect more tomorrow... We could share!
Jan. 4th, 2014 06:45 pm (UTC)
I wouldn't mind making an exchange - we are supposed to have rain tomorrow :)

Gorgeous! Wish I could see it for real someday, but unless I win a lottery that won't happen. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Here is a festive Red Square in December. I found this video on youtube. You can even see some snow there (it had already melted).

So gorgeous! How lucky you are to be close to such a spectacular place! I see Christmas lights on the trees--was this part of Moscow's New Year's Eve celebration?

I took these photos the day before yesterday. Moscow looks that way since late December. Our holidays will last another four days. But I think Christmas lights will stay on the trees much longer.
