The big hand is on Micky's right ear...

Without looking at anything, guess what time it is. Now look at the clock(or what=have-you). What is the actual time? Do you have a good inner clock?

Very close. At this time at work, I know pretty close how much time is left

This time of the year its easy to tell depending on what the sunlight looks like and where the stars are at night.

But how close is your guess to the actual time and what happens if you are inside and can't see the sun or the stars?

Its usually the correct hour, the light inside the house makes it obvious, and depending what stars I can see out the window will still tell the time, if Orion is out the back hall window it is definitely after two in the morning.

Quite close... School use...

I could see where that would be the case. How are you during the summer? Do you find yourself 'rusty' when you get back to school in the fall?

During vacation, the problem isn't the time, it's... the day. Monday? Tuesday?...

Exactly! I completely lose track of days.

I've only had that happen a couple of times and it was very unnerving. It spooked me a bit, so now I am very careful.

None. I have very little sense of time. I can figure it out by looking outside usually, but really just going by me, forget about it. It's the same with directions.

Oh, directions... always a mystery. Thank the PtB for inventing things like Tom-Toms...

Usually yes. There are times when I'm way off-some work days qualify.

Is it a surprise to you when you are off? Usually, I'm pretty close, but every once in a while and I have to wonder why.

Occasionally, but tends to be 'I still have another half an hour to go?!?' Those are the days when we have very needy or very entitled people coming in. I much prefer the times I am surprised my shift is already over.

isn't that the truth. Talk about time being relative.

Ah, I'm right! I thought it was Sunday morning and it is.

That is about as close as I ever get to knowing the time. I have a reputation for being punctual and meeting deadlines, but that is entirely due to my compensating for my lack of time-sense with alarms and calendar reminders. On the other hand,I have a very good sense of direction.

Good on! It IS Sunday morning, isn't it? There are times when that's as much as you need to know.

I make notes, but then forget to look at them. We have one calendar in the kitchen that has everything written on it - if a burglary breaks in and steals it, we are doomed, doomed, I say!

My inner clock is great for stuff like musical tempo. It's pretty good for other life stuff, but not if I let my brain get in the way.

But not if you let your brain get in the way - oh, that is so much the case with so many things!

Only 4 minutes off! Great, I have a super power. :-)

Or I've been living in Switzerland too long...

And now you need to think up a spectacular and flattering costume to go with your super power!

How was New Years in Switzerland?

I'm thinking a cuckoo clock which I jump out of yelling 'It's five thirty everybody!'.

Spectacular...check, flattering...well, it'd hide my hips.

New Year....it's been years since I did anything - there was less alcohol and more babies than I seem to remember. Go figure.

*it's been years since I did anything - there was less alcohol and more babies than I seem to remember*

That's probably because there was more alcohol and fewer babes in the previous years... if you know what I mean.

Snort - oh, the mental image I got for your cuckoo clock outfit.

So...alcohol....and the subsequent arrival of babies....there's a link there somewhere if I could just...

If I look at the clock before bed and think about what time I need to wake up, I will always do so without an alarm. I set an alarm, but I always wake up about 45 seconds before it would go off. So, if I think about it my inner clock is excellent. If I am doing something like reading down the chimney stories, time can fly by and I have no idea I have been at it that long.

I'm pretty lucky in that I don't usually need an alarm to wake up. Being deaf in one ear and sleeping on my good one, an alarm doesn't always work well on me. This past Friday was the exception to the rule, although it was my day off... go figure.
