And for those not interested in a MFU question

Growing up, we did all our school work at school.  This could be because we were a farming community and there was too much to do after school.  It could also be that I went to a one room school that held all the classes and there were only two teachers.  They gave us work to keep us busy until it was our turn or there was a group activity.  It wasn’t until high school that there was actual homework, but still it was nothing compared to what kids in grade school get.  I am aghast at the work load heaped on first and second graders.

Do you think kids today have too much homework?   Too little?  Do you think it’s necessary or is it a way for teachers  to teach something other than test material?
