My default

I don't want to. You do it.

Is there some holiday tradition around your house or in your family that defies easy explanation as to why it's a tradition?  Is there a tradition that you no longer  have, but wish you did?

Now my Da was Scottish, but his first wife was Italian.  He embraced the culture and made it part of our lives, even after Rose passed away from cancer.  Every year he bought a box of Italian nougat candy called 'Torrone' and he always made sure we ate ravioli on Christmas Eve.  He taught Mum how to make 'Dead Man Fingers' - a rock hard anise cookie you had with tea.  To this day, I do the same thing, except for the cookies.  I'd make them, but the recipe I have lacks modern day translations.  My only attempt was a failure.  I miss those cookies.
