Fandom community

Channel D will end on Dec 14th

Don't know if anyone here has been following the news, but Yahoogroups is shutting down. No new posts allowed after Oct 21 although members apparently will be able to email each other like a closed group.

The big bad news however, is that Yahoo is deleting all the groups' archives on Dec 14.

That means we will lose 21 years of our history. We have been archiving posts since we moved from Egroups to Onelist and finally to Yahoogroups in 1998.

As someone who has been following and writing about our community for years, I find this truly tragic. recently, I was asked if I'd want to write a chapter in ana cademic volume on the generations of our fandom and I said sure. Without the archive, however, that may be difficult.

A few folks on Channel D have posted some suggestions and I've always alerted the fans over on Facebook.

I really hope there is a way to save the record of our community and if someone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
