My default

Corn and Potato Chowder

1 Large onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
3 cups corn, fresh or frozen
2 T butter
1 ½ c potatoes, cubed
1 ½ c. water
2 chicken flavored bouillon cubes
½ t. dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups milk
1 cup half-and-half
Dash of Tabasco (optional)

Sauté onion and celery in the butter in a stew pot until tender.

Add the next seven ingredients, cover and simmer 15 minutes.

Add milk and half-and-half; cook, stirring constantly until it’s completely heated.

Yield 5 servings.

Very satisfying and so incredibly easy.

Just wondering

How old were you when you realized you were fannish?

I was six when I fell in love with Star Trek. I didn't know why, but I really really liked Spock... it wasn't until years later (and the introduction of hormones) that I figured out why.

What about you, cousin?

French Baguettes

All this delicious soup requires some crusty home made bread.

This online recipe is excellent.

at the last moment : a recipe for when the delightful french loves get stale, and you have leftovers :

- a leftover of french loaf or some buns that are going stale
- a leftover of chopped meat (fried) or ham or some leftover spahettisauce
- ketchup in case you use chopped meat or ham
- some grated cheese

pre-heat the oven to `150°C
cut the french loaf or the buns in two halves (top and bottom)
if necessary spread some ketchup over the halves, then spread the chopped meat or shredded ham over the kectchup (you can also use some leftover tomato sauce)
if you use spaghetti sauce you just put the spaghettisauce over the loaves
sprinkle with grated cheese
bake in the oven until the chees has melted and forms a crust

Enjoy !
