Family history is always fascinating, as is evidenced by the many ancestor search tv shows there are. I have been wanting to trace my family tree, but just thinking about the amount of people in my great-grandparents' generation makes my brain itch.
On a much broader scope, I do know that both sides of my family stem from Norway. My father's side came via Northern France (Normandy). They came to Britain with the Norman Conquests and made their way up to Scotland. My mother's side left Norway and went straight to Scotland. A few generations ago, both sides came down to the North of England. So basically, I'm Viking, with a little bit of Celt thrown in. This is obvious when you see the very pale skin, blue eyes, and the occasional red-head in our family.
