I spent my twenties working in a clothing factory, but I barely touched a sewing machine. It wasn't until a few years ago, when I found myself in a haberdashers, that I thought I'd like to give sewing a try. There were some many fabrics to play with.
I started off hand-stitching quilt squares, but my thumb kept cramping up. That's when I saw a small, light weight machine which had been reduced from £70 to £20. I didn't think twice. I'm not a great (or fast) sewer, and complicated things still elude me, but I love producing things on my little sewing machine. Beneath the cartoons are two aprons that I made.
