In 1984, the Provisional Irish Republican Army detonates at bomb at the Grand Hotel in Brighton, England, in an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher; 5 others are killed and 31 wounded.

I can remember when she came to our college to speak and the British secret service secured our theatre building and did a bomb sweep. There were several threats issued for her that weekend. It was a scary time.
