Pain affects me differently than other people. Pain hurts me.

Or so Daffy Duck fears. leethet and I were having a discussion on another post about motivating factors for becoming a spy.

How much does pain and/or a fear of death factor into an person's decision to become an agent?

Both Napoleon and Illya knew that become UNCLE agents carried a risk (I mean, look at what they went through at Survival School) of death and torture if captured. Agents would have to know and make peace with that possible outcome or is it more of a, "Well, that isn't going to happen to me" attitude?

What say you, cousins?
