Goodbye, zines...

Well, just said goodbye to some more of my zines. It made me envious - I remember that feeling of anticipation, the thrill of seeing the postie walking down the drive, carrying a zine-sized package. The sound it made when ripping it open. Brewing a cup of tea and making a nest of cushions on the sofa before settling down to read. Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end... But end they did. I still miss them, though my bank balance doesn't.

I sometimes wonder, though, if the quality of stories in zines was better as they were subject to editing, compared to the wealth of uncensored material available online. Although, having said that, there are some truly talented writers sharing their work online.
