Anyone know how to play poker?

Once again, this is for a story and since this group has been so helpful before, I'm hoping someone can help me again. Does anyone have experience with playing poker? I'm interested in what beats what and any terms that may be used, please. My knowledge of cards only extends as far as playing Spider on the laptop.
