Illya's Ring

Long story short, I was wandering through TikTok earlier and found myself watching something about why Russian's wear their wedding band on the right hand. It seems there are several possible reasons (including having a guardian angel at your right shoulder), but what took my interest was a comment that was made.

A person claiming to be Russian stated that she was a widow and, because of this, had switched her ring to her left hand. I've tried to google if this is a traditional thing but all I can find is that many widows/widowers (from different countries) do it when they get remarried. However, I also read that some people move the ring to show that they are widowed, but are still wearing it as a symbol of fidelity.

Now, we all know why David McCallum always wore his ring, and its presence has provided us with plenty of fodder for Illya's backstory. However, I think the whole widower thing lends a plausibility to Illya wearing it on his left hand (even though it occasionally moves to the other).

Anyway, I just thought I'd put this out there in case it was useful to any of the writers.
